This web site has information just for you and your child(ren). Please keep in mind that the staff is willing to help your child(ren) grow educationally as well as socially. Your child(ren) will be treated with respect and we will not accept anything less in return.
Your responsibility as parents, is to see that they attend school on a regular basis, to attend their classes on time and to do the best that they can do. Their major responsibility is to learn. Various activities have been planned throughout the year as well as a varied extracurricular program to enhance their academics.

Dr. Lucine Mastalerz
Dr. Mastalerz is the principal at Saint Ferdinand School. She is active in the educational community serving as an educational site for Dominican University training site for future teachers as well as on the committee to implement the new Math Curriculum Framework from the Archdiocese with Dr. Ozar from Loyola and Dr. Jenkins from the Office of Catholic Education.
Dr. Mastalerz is an adjunct faculty member of DePaul University. She is currently teaching system wide and program curriculum design. In the past, she has taught Administrative Uses of Technology in an Educational Setting, and School Finance at the graduate and doctoral level as well as Learning Theories, Motivation & Technology, Philosophy & Psychology of Middle Level Education; Multicultural Education, and Science Teaching Methods for teacher certification. Dr. Mastalerz has presented at a number of colleges and schools as well as the NCEA convention on leadership, curriculum alignment, classroom management and discipline.
Dr, Mastalerz has served as an educational administrator in both the public and private sector for more than 18 years at elementary, middle and secondary schools. Besides Reading Across the Content Areas, Dr. Mastalerz has a special interest in the advancement of technology and special education initiatives. She received the Martha Holden Jennings Foundation Educational Leadership Award in 1995 as well as the Illinois Award for Excellence in Teaching of Economics at the secondary level in 1988. Dr. Mastalerz began her career in teaching as a high school teacher.
Dr. Mastalerz received her Doctor of Education degree from Roosevelt University in Chicago, IL in 2000, and her dual Masters of Science in Education Decree with emphasis in both Educational Leadership and Curriculum Development. Her dissertation was on the dynamics of burnout in Catholic Elementary Principals. Dr. Mastalerz, her husband, and two sons live in Chicago. Her daughter and son-in-law who live in the area have made her a proud grandmother last year.
